The Vyapam scam is every honest student's worst nightmare!
After leaving the protective environment of our school, the reports of copying and cheating have always been at the background of every exam we have been through. The closest I have ever been to experiencing this is, hearing it from one of my best friends of how the peons in our very own engineering college harassed him to 'co-operate' with other students sitting next to him in the examination center.
But this scam is just a on a different level altogether. It is a systematic and detailed operation designed to rig the exam results. And if breaking the morale of a hardworking student wasn't enough, there are enough vested interests resorting to murder of those that are asking questions that get too close for comfort.
This is the first major scam unearthed during the NDA regime. Regardless of when it originated or how massive it is in terms of a Rupee amount, the student community's attention is going to rivetted on how the government handles the crisis. For someone who relied on the youth's support in winning a decisive mandate, the Prime Minister cannot afford to take the silent route on this matter. That the Madhya Pradesh state government belongs to the same party just makes it that much more necessary for the BJP to sort out this mess fairly and decisively.
